Springtime can kill you.
February 19th, 2008
Spring is almost upon us once again and I cannot wait. Winter sucks entirely too much here in New England. Right about this time in RI it seems to drag on and on and on, but with the help of that sweet action, “daylight-saving”, we will be back in the sun in about 3 weeks. That is right kids, March 9th 2008 at 2 AM to be exact, we gain 1 hour of sunlight. This is probably the greatest idea Bush had:
On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.
As long as Congress doesn’t get wacky and mess this up for us, we should be in good shape, at least for the next few years.
Things to look forward to in Spring
- Block Island (April 1st, annually)
- PawSox games
- Warm air (global warming is a joke, come to NE and tell us about it)
- Cookouts (more of a Summer thing, I know, but still)
- Not being pitch-black on both commutes…
And the list can go on and on, so let’s leave it at that. I also reccommend that you go and listen to some Jolie Holland.
Bottom line. Spring rocks my socks.
