Web Inspiration: Series 2

April 9th, 2008

As mentioned in Web Inspiration: Series 1, this is going to be an ongoing series of posts that hopefully will spark some creative juices, to get your rolling on your next project(s). Keep in mind this is just my opinion, you may have a totally different view on what is good/bad design, in which case please let us know by offering up a link to some sites that influence you.

Elitist Snob

Kent Pribbernow has a really neat, and clean design to check out. Without even mentioning the impressive graphics, the layout does a superb job by clearly sectioning off content blocks, creating a really pleasant visual hierarchy.

Bart-Jan Verhoef

Another minimalist design by nature, however going with a more grunge type feel this site offers a nice treat for the texture lovers.

Andrew Bradshaw

Great work with the navigation on this site. I also really like the portfolio layout because it is easy to read.

Missy

Who would have thought denim could look so good on a website? Just an absolutely amazing use of texture, and color here.

Missy - great design is in my jeans

sr28

I can’t remember the first time I visited this site, but it still helps to get me motivated. What a great use of graphics here. The eyes in the character guide you right to the navigation.

sr28 - Simon Reynolds

Jandaco

A very soft, playful layout, that really helps you get personal with their work, and want to read on.

Jandaco - A full service creative agency

Ian James Cox

For the longest time I thought it was “I am James Cox” but I guess this makes more sense. Anyway, a simple layout with a nice brand.

SimpleBits

Can’t go wrong when it comes to Mr. Cederholm. The old layout was nice, this “em” based layout is even better.

Jason Santa Maria

Most of you have probably seen this site, the one above, and the one below, but I just had to include them. This site speaks for itself.

Rob Weychert

An excellent use of fonts, gives this site an almost editorial type feel. I think a lot of it has to do with his superior use of the grid approach layout.
