Web Inspiration: Series 1
March 27th, 2008
I have decided to start a series of posts with what I think are great and inspiring web designs. On a day to day basis we can see thousand of sites at various galleries, most of which we pay no mind. The sites featured in this and future series’ will showcase designers who went above and beyond. Please pay homage to the creators by visiting their sites and commenting on their blogs, or just send them a nice greeting! They deserve it.
31Three
Jesse Bennett-Chamberlain certainly knows his stuff when it comes to designing for the web. Jesse was responsible for the design of the current Expression Engine website (which is also featured in this series).
ExpressionEngine
Another great one from 31Three’s Jesse Bennett-Chamberlain that really shows his knack for design and attention to detail. Hey look he even made sure to use “selected states” for his navigation!
10-Spaces Consulting
I randomly came across this gem not too long ago and was immediately captivated by the elegant simplicity and minimalist design. It really works well with this site.
fortyseven media
I am not really sure when I first saw this site, but I don’t think I could have gotten to the delicious button quick enough to save it.
cabedge
What a great branding to go along with such an awesome, clean yet dirty at the same time layout.
Superawesome
They design for the web, and are kinda good at it…
Stop Jon
Just a very easy to navigate blog, that packs a nice punch along the way. Things that stand out to me are the header, and the sidebar designs. Nice job.
Bullet Host
Another excellent brand to go with this slick layout. I’m not sure how they are as a host, but if it is anything like their design, you are in for a treat.

Design Reviver
A very easy, and enjoyable site to read through. The layout does the work for you eye, which a lot of the time with multi-column sites can be less than fun.
Lucy Blackmore
This was probably the most recent site that I found to attract my eye. The details on this site are amazing. Without even reading, or searching for a description of services you can tell her line of work directly from the design.
Well, that is all for now. This will be an ongoing series, so if you have any suggestions on sites that you feel should be included in the next one, please let me know by leaving a comment.

Got to agree with your choices, I’ve always been a fan of Expression Engine’s site. Could I include http://ifohdesigns.com as my vote!
Heh, well now, that goes without saying of course…
Thanks for stopping by Toon. I’ve really got to get back to posting over there on the forum, it has been too long.
I’d just like to point out that I’ve recently become a fan of your blog. I happened to come across it a couple days ago and have taken some of the information to heart.
I’m merely an aspiring web-design hobbyist (knowledge of XHTML/CSS), but do I ever have a great appreciation for good design that doesn’t make my eyes bleed.
Hey Tyler, thanks for coming by. I really appreciate the support, and complements!
