Mini-Facelift

July 18th, 2008

Sorry guys, I only have a half day today so there will not be a Friday’s Five.

Bad news aside for a moment, I did do some minor/major changes to the site this week, as you might have noticed.

Changes:

  1. Sidebar has been relocated to the right now
  2. Added a “ShareThis” link to the bottom of each post, so you can…share it
  3. Removed the old “quicklinks” section and replaced it with “popular posts
  4. Changed the colors a bit. Before there was too much blue, and this is part of an idea I am working o, so it is a work in progress

Anyway, there were some other minor things, but nothing too whacky. Have an awesome weekend.

What do you think about the changes?

Big things, Bigger things, and Fireworks

July 1st, 2008

Strange title indeed…I just wanted to send out a little update, and let you all know that there are some plans in the works for this site.

As you currently can see, I have been using this site as both a blog and a portfolio, but I think it would be much better to have a separation between the two. This is why I have decided to get my old domain back and re-register mattrossidesigns.com, and leave ifohdesigns.com to focus on my blogging.

What does this mean for you, the faithful?

Well, this site is going to be re-designed and engineered to perform better as a blog. Aside from performance enhancements, I am also happy to change this layout a bit. I like it, don’t get me wrong, but it is always exciting to announce a re-design.

In addition to the re-design of this site, you will also get a nice new site to view my portfolio on, that hopefully will better demonstrate my work.

Information…F…O…H…Designs

That is right. I am going to give out the acronym with the release of the new site. You might not care at all, but I think it is important in that it will make much more sense now that it is going to be a dedicated web design resource blog.

Stay tuned. (dramatic exit)

Attendee Spotlight: Matt Rossi

March 18th, 2008

Recently I was interviewed by Eric Meyer, host of An Event Apart, author, and CSS Master, about my experiences last year at the Event Apart 2007 Conference here in Boston, MA. You should head over there now, and read about why you should attend.

Thanks to Eric, and the whole crew over there. They truly know how to put on a good show!

ifoh designs - updated logo

*I also fixed some minor issues with the WordPress template and got it validating throughout…GO ME!

Ok, ok, ok, so I still have yet to let you in on the meaning behind the name, but, I did manage to talk myself into a slight re-working of the logo. Not much has changed from the original (which I will always hold dear to my heart), just the “dot” on the “I” really. I tried to make it a little more playful and eye (”i”) catching, har har har.

Let me know your thoughts on the change. Oh and in case you weren’t here for the original, here they both are:

Boston Traffic Sucks, Shirts Do Not

January 25th, 2008

This is just a heads up on some interesting things that are in the works over here. I have been working on a new site, bostontrafficsucks.com which is still in the development phase (launch date tentatively April ‘08). The site speaks for itself really, I mean what else is there to say? If you are from New England, and make the commute towards Boston, or surrounding areas, then you know that it is entirely too much of “teh suxz”. This is exactly why I decided to create a site which will showcase some interesting features that will hopefully help you vent your frustration, such as:

  • Which commute sucked the worst (a daily poll)
  • Driving Tips
  • Things to do while in traffic
  • Places off the highway to visit
  • Directions
  • Traffic Reports
  • A blog run by myself and other “cuh-mew-tuhs”

And a ton of extra things that are top secret, so you will just have to wait!

What about shirts not sucking?

I know I have been talking about printing shirts for a while now (a very long while), and all I can say is good things take time. Thank you for the patience, and they are coming soon! I have been getting quotes on different orders and am just trying to decide which ones I want to print first.
