Not enough hours in the day

February 26th, 2008

I am willing to go out on a limb here and say that I am not the first to have said this, “there aren’t enough hours in the day”. It is the absolute, stone solid, biblical truth. Just trying to get the normal bare essential daily tasks done, take nearly a day in itself. This is enough to make even the best of multi-taskers go insane.

All I want to do when I get home, is urinate, eat dinner, watch tv and have a strong drink…typically in that order, although some of the previous may require more than one visit (usually the drink…).  It seems like there just is not enough time to get everything I need to, or want to get done in just a mere 24 hours.

Right now, I am starting to pick up with some more jobs, which is always a good thing, so no complaints there. Ah, well, I suppose it is better to be buy than to have absolutely nothing to do. Although, I do remember the glory days of being in college and in my old band, with such a laid back schedule, I can’t imagine living like that right now. I think I could manage…hah.

Springtime can kill you.

February 19th, 2008

Spring is almost upon us once again and I cannot wait. Winter sucks entirely too much here in New England. Right about this time in RI it seems to drag on and on and on, but with the help of that sweet action, “daylight-saving”, we will be back in the sun in about 3 weeks. That is right kids, March 9th 2008 at 2 AM to be exact, we gain 1 hour of sunlight. This is probably the greatest idea Bush had:

On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.

As long as Congress doesn’t get wacky and mess this up for us, we should be in good shape, at least for the next few years.

Things to look forward to in Spring

  • Block Island (April 1st, annually)
  • PawSox games
  • Warm air (global warming is a joke, come to NE and tell us about it)
  • Cookouts (more of a Summer thing, I know, but still)
  • Not being pitch-black on both commutes…

And the list can go on and on, so let’s leave it at that. I also reccommend that you go and listen to some Jolie Holland.

Bottom line. Spring rocks my socks.

Cleaning up after 2007

December 30th, 2007

I just upgraded to the latest version of WordPress (2.3.2) in case anyone was wondering. In doing so I realized that I need to backup my database more often. I have been slacking lately and that is never a good thing especially when it comes to your own personal information. Granted, this is not the most crucial of information, but never the less it is my site and I should take some more initiative.

Goodbye 2007

2007 was a very strange year. I started my first job, moved out and supported myself, made some new friends and enemies, I guess overall I just grew up. I know it is a bad thing to live in the past and that is one of my biggest flaws I think, but if we learn from history, and our past is our history is it all so bad? When I look back I can see a lot of things I miss, and also a lot of things I do not. I came up with a list of things that I would like to do for myself this year, the year of The Lord 2008.

  • Buy some new bass gear, and play my bass once per day
  • Possibly start a new band, or join one for fun
  • Exercise once per day
  • Try not to swear so much (not that I do a hell of a lot)
  • Not take life so serious

That is pretty much it. Nothing too wild on there as you can see. My main focus is just trying to be happy and enjoy each and every day and not dwell on working/driving so much.

What is your new years resolution(s)?

Merry Christmas

I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. I hope you all have a very safe and fun day with your family and friends. That is it. Short and sweet!

All things Rhode Island

December 5th, 2007

Being from Rhode Island, I am well aware of all the stereotypes, jokes, and questions like “wait, isn’t that like off of Massachusetts somewhere?”. We have been called “The armpit of New England”, “Little New York”, and all other sorts of things. To the rest of us, it is known simply as home.

‘Tis the season

November 20th, 2007

It is almost time to get out ye olde snowboard and make my way up north to the mountains for some fun. I have not gone much in the past few years and only got to go once this past year, so I am itching to get back at it. For those of you familiar with Rhode Island, we went to Yawgoo Valley, which is not much of a mountain at all, but the commute is so reasonable you gotta love it. Anyway, it was a great day, and fairly cheap so that is always a plus. About 2 weeks later, near the middle of March, I made plans to go by myself to Wachusett, and left work a little early to get on my way. I work in Quincy, so it wasn’t too bad of a commute, or shouldn’t have been too bad of a commute I should say…
